Extensions to the CfP Deadlines

The deadlines announced in the HST and JWST Calls for Proposals (CfPs) are strictly observed. The deadlines are announced months in advance, and we expect proposers to plan accordingly. Proposals may be re-submitted as many times as needed before the deadline, so we encourage proposers to submit early and to submit often!

In exceptional cases, where there are extenuating circumstances, we do grant extensions to the stated deadline. Proposers requiring an extension should do so via the HST Help Desk or the JWST Help Desk before the stated deadline. Only requests submitted via the Help Desk will be considered. Proposers should be prepared to submit a placeholder proposal for each proposal under extension, with as many details as possible, including proposal type, and time request (if applicable). Extensions are typically short in duration, and the length of the extension will depend on the circumstances. Extensions are not granted in all cases.
